I don't have a public place to post the document. You were right that I knew about the thread - I was the last post in the attached thread - lol.ĭo you have an email address (or is there a way to post a word document to a message? I have a very detailed document describing the situation that may / may not be helpful to users of this discussion group.Ĭan you post the word doc somewhere public and link to it here (or in the new thread that I think you should start since this is new issue)? I encourage you to post a new thread on this forum to get peoples attention about the problem behind the problem whose thread we are discussing this in. What servers are you implementing the saving with? MS Office obviously but for JPG and GIFs and PDFs?

Its quite generic and should do the same job any other OLE client can do. I would be surprised if your problem is solely a problem with Forms' OLE implementation. I assume you have seen this thread: 200798 since you mention olextra? If you have any ideas for getting OLE functionality to work in 10g, then I am all ears.

I ended up extracting the PDF documents then searched for "%PDF-" at the beginning of the document (erase anything prior) and then searched for the last "%%EOF" at the end of the document (erase everything after). OLEXTRA works pretty good with Microsoft Office files, JPGs, and GIFs (90% success rate), but does not work well with anything else especially PDF. I have not been able to get the OLE functionality to work in 10g forms hence, the reason for my original post. We have incorporated WEBUTIL in the 10g forms to handle most of the other 6.0 forms (client) functionality (i.e. One of the forms allows users to add a file to the database (into a LONG_RAW column). My company has upgraded our application to 10g however, there are a couple of forms that are giving us a problem. I realize that Oracle Forms 6.0 is not certified with the Oracle 10g database.

I would strongly recommend that you upgrade to version 10.1.2 of Forms. We (Oracle) don't know if it works.Ħ.0.8 might be better in this regard (if it is a problem in Forms, which is not clear since it works against one your databases). I'll let others contribute any solutions they may have for this but I just wanted to mention that this combination (10.2 of the database and 6.0.5 of Forms) was never tested and certified. Thanks in advance for your help / advice, Unable to Connect invalid ALTER SESSION command

When connecting through Forms 6.0 runtime or SQL we get the following error: Oracle Database 10g (version 10.2.0) on a Solaris computer We were unable to connect the conversion utility using the following environment (6.0 forms runtime accessing a Solaris 10g database): Oracle Developer Runtimes (version 6.0.5.35)

Oracle Database 10g (version 10.2.0) on a Windows 2000 computer We have successfully tested the conversion utility using the following environment (6.0 forms runtime accessing a Windows 10g database): Re-validate / Re-compile all the database packages, procedures, views, etc.

Import the the 8i database dump into the 10g database (several errors) When creating the 10g database I used the following steps:Ĭreate the Oracle database using Database Configuration Manager The weird thing is that we are able to connect the same forms 6.0 runtime application to an Oracle 10g database (on Windows).Īny ideas? I have attached some additional information below:

Forms 6.0 Runtime Client connecting to 10g database We are experiencing a problem connecting a forms 6.0 runtime application to an Oracle 10g database (on Solaris).
